Why has every reference to sexuality disappeared from Western Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient discipline originating from India that focuses on the union of the mind, body, and spirit. An important part of yoga philosophy is the conscious use of sexual energy, which is called “kundalini”. However, in recent decades, the approach to yoga in the West has undergone a significant change that has led to the elimination of this concept.

The hypocrisy that has eliminated the concept of conscious use of sexual energy from traditional yoga philosophy can be explained in several ways. Firstly, many yoga teachers in the West have focused exclusively on the physical aspect of practice, neglecting spiritual and philosophical aspects. This superficial approach to yoga has led to the removal of concepts such as kundalini and the practice of conscious use of sexual energy.

Secondly, there has been a growing commercialization of yoga in the West. Many people practice yoga for aesthetic purposes, such as losing weight or increasing flexibility, and yoga teachers try to meet this demand. This has led to a reduction in the complexity of yoga practice and the removal of elements such as kundalini.

Thirdly, there has been widespread hypocrisy regarding sexual energy in the West. While Western culture promotes sexual energy as an important element of life, it is also repressed and demonized. This has led to a lack of understanding of sexual energy and its removal from yoga practice.

Additionally, kundalini is a very complex concept that requires a deep understanding of yoga philosophy. Yoga teachers in the West often do not have the necessary knowledge and experience to teach kundalini effectively, and as a result, this concept is ignored or eliminated.

An Ever-Changing Experience

If you want to experience something different every time, you can choose one of the three types of massage offered. They all share full nudity and care for every part of the body.

Tantra Intense Massage: This is the most classic, intense, and technical massage. It combines the rapid movements of Swedish massage with the art of Tantra. It equally focuses on every part of the body and offers a moderate lymph-draining effect.

Tantra Flow Massage: This massage style is inspired by Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and is characterized by long, moderately intense movements that reproduce the effect of ocean waves. It involves half of the body at a time.

Tantra Sensual Massage: This is the most delicate and slow massage. It resembles a long caress, but it is performed with presence and an engaging touch. It always considers the entire body and leaves the feeling of being touched by many hands.

All types of massage have the same duration and cost.

Sex in Tantra

To better understand tantric massage, one should approach the vision of human evolution from the perspective of Tantra. If you know the chakras, you already know that human energy (or consciousness) manifests in different qualities and that everything originates from the sexual energy. The refinement of sexual energy allows the individual to realize themselves on every level, including the spiritual one, and in this way become a complete and integrated being.

To truly feel in harmony with the universe around us, we can choose one of two paths: that of Christianity, which limits the expression of sensuality through guilt, in an attempt to sublimate it, or that of Tantra, which uses pleasure and sex in service of evolution. Choosing the path of Tantra means considering sensuality as worthy and pure as any other aspect of our existence.

In both cases, however, the primal energy must be channeled upwards, otherwise, there is a risk of going insane or living in deviancy. This does not mean living sex in complete freedom. To elevate desire, Tantra suggests not indulging in:

  • Laziness, which is a lack of vitality;
  • Cruelty, which is the desire to cause suffering to others;
  • Possession, which is the sensation of feeling another person as one’s own;
  • Degeneration of desire (incest, rape, imprisonment…);
  • Full satisfaction, which is the state that interrupts the search for pleasure;
  • Spasmodic search for pleasure, which is the continuous need to obtain sexual pleasure;
  • “Socially virtuous” attitudes, such as marital fidelity and monogamy.

For Tantra practitioners, touch is the prince of the senses, and for this reason, massage represents a balanced way to develop the relationship, stimulate sexual energy, and channel it – through conscious practices such as breathing – for personal evolution.Regenerate response

Nudity and Decency

Is decency, when it comes to the naked body, normal? Natural? After years of working on myself, I feel I can clearly say NO.

Even though culturally we often attribute a positive connotation to it, the term “decency” literally means “shame.” And shame should be the result of something dishonorable, wrong. While there is nothing wrong with a naked body and, for some reason, we accept the nudity of a child, but not that of an adult.

Sometimes we attribute to decency the meaning of privacy, but once again, why should we be private? What do we have to hide? We hide what we do not like, what we do not want to be seen. While there is perfection and beauty in every human body, and it is time to drop the fig leaf.

Reflecting on these issues is pointless if the emotion we feel strongly opposes logic: if we do not feel comfortable with nudity, it is because of the strongly repressive approach to the body and sex in which we have grown up. However, this does not exempt us from consciously working on it, and sooner or later, we should all do it.

If you have the opportunity, let yourself be influenced by the Central-Northern European culture, in which the naked body is seen in a completely natural way, even in mixed-gender contexts; try a spa or a naturist beach and enjoy the sense of simplicity and naturalness that these experiences can give. Or, if you want to go further, try a Tantra massage.

Tantra Yoga: The Meeting of Heaven and Earth

Thanks to the sense of guilt instilled by the Christian-Catholic culture, we are used to thinking of sex and spirituality as two elements at opposite ends.

Yet, think about it: it is through sex that man and woman create life, come together in love, and can experience ecstatic experiences. Doesn’t it seem incredible to you? What is closer to spirituality? What is more powerful within us? Precisely because of the power it releases, sexuality has long been condemned and associated with impurity.

In the Yogic-Tantric tradition, which has its roots in ancient ascetic practices of millennia and developed in the centuries of the Middle Ages, spirit and matter are two sides of the same coin, different frequencies of the same spectrum of energy. From the elevation of sexual energy, emotions, personality, higher feelings, creativity, and everything that makes us human is generated, as described in the classic Chakra model. Heaven and earth meet in us, although many Yoga practitioners ignore (or prefer not to consider) this reality.

Tantric massage, often confused with a practice aimed solely at physical pleasure, is an evolutionary tool available to the human being who desires to be deeply rooted in the earth, but stretched towards heaven and spirit. It is not easy to grasp this essence at the first experience, but over time it can offer you awareness of the body, the release of ancient emotional knots, the rediscovery of a healthy personal power, and greater connection with the spiritual reality of which we are a part.

Does this mean that physical pleasure is not important? On the contrary! It is the first step on a path towards healing and meeting the soul. The important thing is not to stop at that first step.”

Waiting for Anna

The massage table is ready. The oil and the room are warm.

She will arrive in 15 minutes, but I have plenty of time to gather my energies.

I close my eyes and start to breathe deeply. When the time comes, Kundalini will have to do its part. Pleasure depends on it, but nature will take its course.

Inhale, exhale… I ground myself and draw strength from the earth.

Inhale, exhale… I bring the vital fluid up high until I feel it in my head. Today it takes a little longer.

When she lays naked on the table and closes her eyes, she will be like all the others but unique at the same time. Perfect as nature intended, whether she is 25 or 50 years old, with a lean or soft physique.

I put my hands on my heart while mentally reviewing the movements. I will spread the oil before starting, so I don’t have to think about it anymore. The body will be shiny under the candlelight and slippery under my touch.

I will continue incessantly with this breath, while taking care of her. It will become our breath, because even if she probably won’t notice, the rhythm of the air synchronizes between us when the dance begins.

Strong on the feet, intense on the legs and glutes, gentle on the belly… even though the most sensitive parts are those that many other massages overlook, those that even during the heat of passion most partners forget.

The hand plows decisively between the breasts, caresses the sternum, and kisses the mound of Venus; it delicately wraps around the inner thigh, brushing against the labia majora and ending its journey on the hips.

I briefly open my eyes. Is the chair close enough? I cannot stand when I dedicate myself to her pleasure, because that is a never-ending moment, to which I will devote all the time that is needed. There, heaven and earth meet for an infinite moment.

When the shivers and tremors subside, I will rest my wrists for a moment and wipe my forehead. After washing my hands and bringing the oil cup closer, I will massage her face and head for the last few minutes. Almost no one does it, but that is the part I prefer.

The background music brings me back to reality. And it will do the same for her when, after 90 minutes, I whisper softly, “we’re done.” But before she fully awakens, I will cover her body with the towel and let her rest for another five minutes before getting dressed.

What was that noise?
